Nestled deep amongst the rolling foothills of the
Adirondacks, lying in a
gentle cove betwixt the numerous knolls of the Mettowee Valley rests a
haven where the denizens of said locale seek learned sanctuary. . .
The Mind's Eye is the title given to the
student-produced literary publication here at Salem Washington Academy. It provides a
creative outlet for all of the school's students between the grades of 7 and 12.
Publication is yearly, and usually befalls in late spring. The price of the Literary
Magazine is $4.00. Reservations are recommended, and advanced orders may be placed with
Mrs. Artz. Submissions may be made to any of the sundry of envelopes emblazoned with a
"literary llama" icon, which are scattered throughout the school's campus, or to
any member of the magazine's staff.
Poetry, prose, art, and
photography are accepted for publication. All submissions must be approved by the staff,
and all are subject to exclusion from the magazine. Art and photography must be submitted
in black and white, with dimensions no larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches.
The staff of the Mind's Eye changes yearly.
Though all
(most) varieties of topics are accepted, and original ideas are strongly encouraged;
students in doubt on what to submit may find these suggested themes enkindling. . . If you wish to join the staff of the Mind's Eye, contact its supervisor, Mrs. Artz.
