Welcome to the
Month of May
Greetings
Spring
is here. Welcome to our ninth month of school.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit the school, come in and have
lunch with your child or visit the classroom We would love to see you. During the month of May One-
PTA Meeting
The
next regular meeting of the PTA will be held on Thursday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the High School
Library. I would like to thank the PTA
for all the resources and great activities they provide to our students. Thank you.
The
PTA is excited to bring the School Tool Box Program to
Kindergarten Screening
Kindergarten Screening is scheduled for May 2nd and May 5th. If you have a child who will be entering
kindergarten this coming September, be sure that you have signed your child up
for a screening appointment. If you have any questions, please call the
Elementary Office at 854 - 9505.
Incoming Kindergarten Visitation Day
The children who will be kindergarteners during the
2008-2009 school year are going to be visiting with our kindergarten teachers
on Friday, May 16th. There will not be
school for our current kindergarten classes.
School Budget Vote
The
annual school budget vote is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20th from 9:00 a.m. to
8:00 p.m.
Please make time and participate in the process.
Spring Concert
The
annual grade 3 - 6 Spring Elementary Music Concert
will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m.
Our students have been working hard and are prepared to present an
outstanding concert. Join us and enjoy a
great evening of music.
*This
is the same day as our budget vote; if you haven’t had time earlier, please
vote before the concert.
Regional Spelling Bee
Students
in 5th and 6th grade participated in our annual spelling bee on April 9th.
Members of the High School
Honor
Society conducted the program.
The
third place winner was
Padgett. The second place winner was Caroline McKeighan. Amanda
Davis is the first place winner who will represent our school at the BOCES
Regional Spelling Bee on Wednesday,
June 4th at 7:00 p.m. in
Congratulations to all of our participants. The students really work hard for this
event.
Memorial Day
School will be closed on Monday, May 26th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 27th.
Fairy Tale Ball
From 8:30– 11:00 on Friday, May 23rd, the 1st Grade
will have their Fairy Tale Ball. Come join us in the Primary Gym.
Salem Youth Football, Inc would like to remind
everyone that May is the last month to purchase Great Escape tickets and
Teacher and
Staff Appreciation Week is May 5th – 9th
