Final Average
80% Average of the marking periods
20% Final Project
Since a minimum of 60% of your average is based on participation it is important to attend class
regularly. One absence per marking period will be allowed. However, any absences beyond that
must be made up either during a study hall or during two E blocks within two weeks of the date
of the absence. This time frame is necessary as units within a block schedule only last 3-4
weeks. The idea is that the class can be made up and applied to the current unit. Classes that
are not made up will be average in as a zero. Each day of participation is worth approximately 6
points of your average.
Doctors medical excuses with a duration that exceeds 1 week should include information as to
what activities if any you can participate in. For example, if you had a sprained ankle it might
be possible for you to lift weights with your upper body until it heals. This will allow us to adapt
the program so credit can still be earned. If this information is not provided or the injury is such
that it provides for no activity, the following options will be considered:
1. Make up all work and lost time when you are healthy.
2. Written work and projects.
Parental excuses will be accepted. However, they will be counted as an absence unless the class
time is made up.
Students will not be allowed to participate if they are not in proper attire. Being unprepared for
class will NOT count towards absences. These days must always be made up within the same
two week time frame as a regular absence. Failure to make them up will result in that day being
averaged in as a zero.
Please respect other peoples property. The locker room is a privilege not a right. Repeated
violation of posted rules will result in this privilege being revoked. Please take your gym clothes
home and wash them periodically. I suggest bringing a second set of cloths the day you plan to
take them home to wash them, this way should you forget to bring them back you will still have
gym cloths for the day.
Padlocks: Do not share your combinations with classmates. Do not leave padlocks on benches. Please lock them back on your locker each time you open it.
