SALEM

Technology Education is an integrating discipline that provides students with an opportunity to study the human-made world and to develop technological literacy as part of their fundamental education. Through design-build and-test activities students model solutions to real world problems and develop an understanding of technology in the past, present, and future. Technology education is much more than just knowledge about computers and their application. Technology education programs engage the learner in critical thinking as they design and develop products, systems, and environments to solve practical problems.
Eighth Grade Technology

Student's grades are determined on tests, homework, class work, weekly grade and projects. Students are excepted to work safely, clean up the shop, have a positive attitude, and demonstrate proper behavior. Students earn a weekly grade for these behaviors.

This course will be a computer lab for the hands-on Technology course. Students will use desktop publishing software to create their company name, logo, and slogan for their egg drop box. Students will use CAD to design their wood lamp plan. Students will use a bridge building software to design and test a bridge before they construct it. This course will be hands-on and project activity based and will be intertwined with the 8th grade Technology course.
